  1. Leo XIV convenes bishops for Amoris laetitia's tenth anniversary

Leo XIV called the presidents of the world's bishops' conferences to Rome for a meeting marking ten years of Amoris laetitia, praising the exhortation; the Associated Press described the letter as an endorsement, though it did not explicitly address access to the sacraments. The meeting was scheduled for 7–14 October 2026 in the Vatican, closing with a papal Mass on 14 October.

  1. Vatican doctrine office publishes Fiducia supplicans on blessings

The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith published Fiducia supplicans, allowing non-ritual blessings for couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples while excluding rites or wedding-like signs. Criticism from traditionalist media and from bishops in several African and Eastern European countries led the dicastery to issue a clarifying press release on 4 January 2024.

Cardinals Walter Brandmüller, Raymond Burke, Carlo Caffarra and Joachim Meisner made public five yes-or-no questions (dubia) on Amoris laetitia that they had sent to Pope Francis and to Cardinal Gerhard Müller on 19 September 2016. The questions never received a public reply.

  2. Francis publishes the apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia

The post-synodal apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia, dated 19 March 2016, was presented by the Holy See. Its eighth chapter on discernment for people in so-called irregular situations became a focal point of traditionalist criticism over Communion for divorced and civilly remarried Catholics; in 2026 Leo XIV convened bishops to mark its tenth anniversary.
