Corrections Policy
Last updated
We work hard to be accurate, and when we fall short we say so openly.
How to report an error
Use the Request a correction link at the foot of any analysis, or our contact form. Please tell us which analysis, what you believe is wrong, and — if you can — a source that shows the correct information. We read every request.
How we respond
- An editor reviews the request against the sources, normally within [two working days].
- If we made an error, we fix it and add a dated note to the analysis explaining what changed.
- We reply to you to let you know the outcome.
Kinds of notes
- Correction — we got a fact wrong. We fix it and say what was wrong.
- Clarification — what we wrote was accurate but could be misunderstood. We make it clearer.
- Update — something new has happened since publication. We add it, with the date.
Notes appear on the analysis itself and in our public corrections log. We do not silently change the substance of published work. Small fixes to spelling, grammar or broken links may be made without a note.
What is not a correction
A disagreement with our analysis is not, by itself, an error. If you are the subject of an analysis and want to respond to it, please use our Right of Reply: we publish substantive responses alongside the piece.
Removal
We remove published work only in exceptional circumstances — for example, if it would expose someone to serious harm, or for legal reasons. If we remove or substantially withdraw an analysis, we say so publicly.
