TradWatch documents what traditionalist Catholic media actually says — in context, with the sources — and answers it with verifiable facts and citations, including the Church's own teaching.
Traditionalist Catholic media is a large and growing world: sedevacantist and independent chapels, the Society of Saint Pius X, communities in full communion such as the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter and the Institute of Christ the King, popular YouTube channels and podcasts, integralist and “post-liberal” writers, and a busy online culture around all of them. Millions of people hear these voices every week. Their claims about the Church, its history and its teaching deserve the same careful scrutiny any influential media receives.
What we publish
- Analyses — the core of the site. Each one quotes a specific public statement word for word, links to the original (with a timestamp for audio and video), sets out the context, and then answers each claim with sourced counterpoints.
- Briefs — short, timely responses to a single statement, published while a story is still unfolding.
- Follow-ups — when a story develops, we add to it and link the pieces together, so readers can always reach the latest development.
- The directory — profiles of outlets and public figures, compiled from public sources.
- Explainers and the timeline — background on movements, themes and developing stories, and a timeline of the events that shaped them.
How every analysis is built
- What was said. The exact words, attributed to a named speaker, with a link to the moment they were said.
- Context. What surrounded the statement, so nothing is quoted out of context.
- The record. For each claim, what the evidence shows. Every counterpoint is labelled as either a Verifiable fact or TradWatch analysis, and every one cites a source.
- Bottom line. A short, plain conclusion.
- Sources. Every source in one numbered list, with archived copies where we have them.
- Corrections and replies. Any correction is noted on the page, and the people we write about can respond.
