  1. Leo XIV announces surgery to remove a small nodule in his lung

    At the Sunday Angelus, Pope Leo XIV said that recent medical examinations had found “a small, localized nodule” in his lung, “detected at a very early stage”, and that on his doctors’ advice he would have it removed at Rome’s Gemelli hospital in the coming days. Holy See Press Office director Matteo Bruni told journalists the operation was scheduled for the first days of the week, with about one week of post-operative recovery.
