About Paul Kramer

Paul Kramer is an author who writes as "Fr. Paul Kramer" and is so called by his critics. He is known for writing on the Fatima apparitions and, after 2013, for disputing the legitimacy of Pope Francis. His current canonical status and recent activity could not be confirmed from available sources (October 2026).

The Devil's Final Battle. Kramer compiled and edited The Devil's Final Battle, first published in 2002; a revised second edition was compiled by Kramer and the editorial staff of The Missionary Association and published in 2010. Catalogue and reader descriptions say the book is cast as an indictment of senior Vatican officials whom it accuses of suppressing the Fatima message, and passages quoted from it criticise Cardinals Sodano, Castrillón Hoyos and Ratzinger; these are the book's own accusations (LibraryThing; Goodreads). In 2000 the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith published what it presented as the full text of the third part of the secret, with a commentary by Cardinal Ratzinger (The Message of Fatima). See also Nicholas Gruner and The Fatima Center.

Francis and Benedict XVI. According to a rebuttal by John Salza and Robert Siscoe published by The Remnant, Kramer first wrote on Facebook that Francis had lost his office through heresy; then argued that an error in the Latin text of Benedict XVI's 2013 renunciation made it invalid; and, after a canonist answered that, argued that Benedict had meant to give up only the active exercise of the papacy and not the office itself, the core claim of what is now called benevacantism. The rebuttal's authors also say he later adopted sedevacantist arguments; that characterisation is theirs (The Remnant).

In 2019 Gondolin Press published the first volume of Kramer's To Deceive the Elect, subtitled Defection from the Faith & the Church, which its description presents as a treatise on Catholic teaching about a heretical pope and the loss of ecclesiastical office (catalogue record; Apple Books). Kramer's arguments and those of True or False Pope? stand on opposite sides of this dispute. For the Church's teaching on papal authority see papal authority and recognize-and-resist.
