About Kennedy Hall
Kennedy Hall is a Canadian Catholic author, podcaster and commentator based in Ontario; his author biography says he has written for LifeSiteNews (Goodreads). He has also been published by OnePeterFive and Crisis Magazine (OnePeterFive; Crisis Magazine) and hosts the Substack newsletter and podcast Mere Tradition (Mere Tradition).
He is best known as a defender of the Society of St. Pius X. His 2023 book SSPX: The Defence is presented as a comprehensive answer to objections raised against the Society (Goodreads), and Crisis Magazine's podcast hosted him in an episode titled "Confessions of a Lefebvrist" (Crisis Magazine). He is also the author of What Happened to Catholicism: The Heresy Behind the Current Crisis (Christianbook), which became a multi-part Mere Tradition series beginning in December 2024 (Mere Tradition).
His arguments for the Society have drawn critics. The True or False Pope site argued that Hall misunderstands the Church's teaching on canonical mission (True or False Pope), and the ex-traditionalist site Trad Recovery published an open letter answering his Crisis article "The SSPX, the Truth, and Charity" (Trad Recovery). Catholic Insight, while sympathetic to his call for a return to tradition, described him as "a sort of crusading apostle for the Society" (Catholic Insight).
Hall was among the featured creators of Pelican+, a subscription Catholic media platform promoted by OnePeterFive that launched on 7 October 2025 (EIN Presswire; OnePeterFive). In April 2026 he announced that he had left Pelican+ and returned to Substack (Mere Tradition).
In 2026, as debate over the SSPX's episcopal consecrations intensified (SSPX consecrations 2026), a public split opened among traditionalist commentators. The traditionalist blog Integrity Magazine reported in September 2026 that after OnePeterFive editor Timothy Flanders published retractions of his earlier support for the Society, Hall sharply criticised Flanders and urged traditionalists not to give OnePeterFive money, while disclaiming a boycott; Integrity also said Hall had cut ties with OnePeterFive and Pelican+ (Integrity Magazine). Hall's reply, "Against Tim Flanders and His Diabolism", appeared on his Substack, Mere Tradition, on 17 September 2026 (Mere Tradition). See Society of St. Pius X.
