Mere Tradition with Kennedy Hall

Mere Tradition with Kennedy Hall is the Substack newsletter and podcast of Ontario-based Catholic author Kennedy Hall; a YouTube channel of the same name carries its video episodes (Mere Tradition; Goodreads). Some episodes are available in full only to paying subscribers (Mere Tradition).

Its content centres on the Society of St. Pius X and on what Hall presents as the doctrinal roots of a crisis in the Church. Posts and episodes include defences of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and arguments about whether the SSPX is in schism (Mere Tradition; Mere Tradition), advice on how to remain Catholic under Pope Francis (Mere Tradition), commentary on the SSPX "Resistance" (Mere Tradition), the history of Catholic Quebec (Mere Tradition) and a multi-part series, "What Happened to Catholicism?", which began in December 2024 and shares its title with Hall's book (Mere Tradition).

In April 2026 Hall announced that he had left the Catholic social platform Pelican+ and was back on Substack (Mere Tradition). In September 2026 the traditionalist blog Integrity Magazine reported a public feud between Hall and OnePeterFive editor Timothy Flanders over the SSPX, in which Hall urged traditionalists not to support OnePeterFive financially (Integrity Magazine); see SSPX consecrations 2026.
