  1. Death of Brazilian Catholic leader Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira in São Paulo

    Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira, the Brazilian Catholic thinker and activist, died in São Paulo on 3 October 1995. In the following year the Italian historian Roberto de Mattei wrote a biography of him, later published in English as The Crusader of the 20th Century with a preface by Cardinal Alfons Maria Stickler.

  1. Brazil's bishops' conference issues a note criticising the TFP

    At its 23rd general assembly, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) approved a note criticising the TFP for a 'lack of communion' with the Brazilian Church, its hierarchy and the pope, and urging Catholics not to join or cooperate with it, according to the text as reproduced by the American TFP. The Brazilian TFP rejected the accusations as vague and generic.

  1. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira founds the Brazilian TFP

    In 1960 Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira founded the Brazilian Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP), drawing on his 1959 book Revolution and Counter-Revolution. Autonomous TFPs followed in other countries, beginning with Argentina, Chile and Uruguay in 1967, according to Wikipedia.
