Marco Tosatti

Marco Tosatti is an Italian journalist who was for many years a correspondent for the Turin daily La Stampa. Reporting in August 2018, the Associated Press said he now wrote largely for more conservative blogs and newspapers and described him as a leading conservative critic of Pope Francis (AP via Fox News).

He edits the Italian-language blog Stilum Curiae, which presents itself as a blog of information and opinion and says it is supported by voluntary reader donations (Stilum Curiae). The blog's archive on marcotosatti.com goes back to at least March 2018; in October 2022 it announced a move to the domain stilumcuriae.com (Stilum Curiae). He also publishes through a Telegram channel and an X account.

Viganò testimony (2018). Tosatti told the AP that he had helped Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò write, rewrite and edit the 11-page testimony, released in late August 2018, in which Viganò accused Pope Francis over his handling of abuse allegations against Theodore McCarrick. According to the AP, the two worked on the text for three hours at Tosatti's home on 22 August 2018; Tosatti said he had told Viganò the draft was not in a journalistic style and persuaded him to cut claims that could not be substantiated or documented (AP via BishopAccountability.org). Mexican daily Vanguardia reported that Tosatti confirmed his role on his blog (Vanguardia). In his 2019 book Viganò vs. the Vatican, he characterised his contribution as ordinary editing of a text written entirely by Viganò, according to a review in The Wanderer (The Wanderer; Goodreads listing).

Because Viganò stayed out of public view in the days after the testimony appeared, the AP noted that Tosatti's account was then the only available reconstruction of how the document came about (AP via Fox News).
