Candace Owens

Candace Owens is an American conservative political commentator and podcaster with a large YouTube audience; U.S. Catholic reported in September 2024 that her channel had more than 2.2 million subscribers (U.S. Catholic), and Catholic World Report put it at nearly six million in February 2026 (Catholic World Report). She is included here because, since becoming Catholic in 2024, she has become a prominent and contested Catholic voice online, frequently discussed in traditionalist and mainstream Catholic media.

On 22 April 2024 Owens announced on social media that she had been received into the Catholic Church, describing it as a "decision to go home" (National Catholic Reporter; Newsweek). The Catholic Herald reported that she was received at the Brompton Oratory in London (Catholic Herald), and LifeSiteNews carried her account of what drew her to the Church (LifeSiteNews).

Her conversion came a month after The Daily Wire announced on 22 March 2024 that it had ended its relationship with her; NCR described the split as acrimonious and linked it to statements widely seen as antisemitic (National Catholic Reporter; Catholic Herald). U.S. Catholic wrote in September 2024 that her conversion made Catholics who do not support her history of antisemitism uneasy, and argued that her conspiracy-theory output had grown since she converted, citing claims about the Star of David and about Atatürk (U.S. Catholic). A 2025 Jerusalem Post opinion column described her and Nick Fuentes as "two of the most influential and hostile anti-Jewish voices in America today" and argued that the Vatican must respond publicly (Jerusalem Post).

Catholic criticism has continued. In September 2024 First Things published the essay "Candace Owens Doesn't Speak for Catholics" (First Things), and in February 2026 Catholic World Report carried a pro-life activist's objection to her inclusion on a Catholic speakers' bureau roster (Catholic World Report). In March 2026 she spoke at the Catholics for Catholics prayer gala in Washington; Jewish Insider reported that beforehand several prominent Catholics, among them Archbishop Alexander Sample of Portland, publicly stated that antisemitism has no place in Catholic teaching (Jewish Insider).
