About International Federation Una Voce (Una Voce International, FIUV)

The International Federation Una Voce (FIUV), also called Una Voce International, describes itself as an umbrella body for more than forty lay-led associations around the world that support the traditional Latin Mass (FIUV). Its members include the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales. Sources give different founding dates in the mid-1960s; Eric Vermehren de Saventhem is recorded as its first president (Wikipedia). The federation publishes a magazine, Gregorius Magnus (FIUV).

Leadership. Joseph Shaw, previously the federation's secretary, became president in 2021 (FIUV); the federation's council page lists him as president for the 2025–2027 term, following a General Assembly in Rome (FIUV).

Positions. On 3 February 2026, after the Society of St. Pius X announced that it would consecrate bishops without a papal mandate, FIUV and the Latin Mass Society issued a joint statement expressing unease and saying the plan made the Society's canonical regularisation look more remote. The statement acknowledged common ground with the SSPX on wider access to the traditional liturgy, disagreed with its account of the crisis in the Church, and appealed to the bishops and to Pope Leo XIV to consider the pastoral situation of Catholics attached to the older rite (Una Voce Canada). InfoVaticana reported the statement as an appeal to the Pope to ease the restrictions of Traditionis custodes (InfoVaticana). After the consecrations of 1 July, OSV News reported that traditionalist groups in communion with Rome disowned them and urged continued dialogue (Detroit Catholic/OSV News).
