Fr. Z's Blog (wdtprs.com)

Fr. Z's Blog, published at wdtprs.com, is the personal blog of the Catholic priest John Zuhlsdorf, known online as "Fr. Z". The site states that it was formerly titled What Does The Prayer Really Say? (the source of its domain name) and describes itself as offering "Clear, straight commentary on Catholic issues, liturgy and life" (wdtprs.com). The founding year of the blog was not verified; a 2014 America profile said Zuhlsdorf had been involved in internet ministry since 1992 (America).

Author and background. According to the America profile, Zuhlsdorf is an American-born priest of the Italian Diocese of Velletri-Segni, a convert from Lutheranism ordained in 1991 by Pope John Paul II, who wrote a column on liturgical translation for many years in the Catholic weekly The Wanderer and later wrote for the British Catholic Herald (America). In 2008 New Liturgical Movement called his weekly Wanderer column the most consistently outstanding commentary in that paper (New Liturgical Movement).

Content. The blog's long-standing slogan is "Save The Liturgy, Save The World", which Zuhlsdorf links to a 2007 manifesto arguing that the way Mass is celebrated produces ripples through the Church and the world (wdtprs.com; wdtprs.com). Regular features have included sermon-note threads for both the traditional Latin Mass and the post-conciliar rite (wdtprs.com) and, in 2021, a "Daily Rome Shot" series (wdtprs.com). It remained active in 2025 (wdtprs.com).
