About Culture Wars

Culture Wars is a magazine and website based in South Bend, Indiana, edited by E. Michael Jones and published through Fidelity Press (SPLC). According to the magazine's own account, Jones started Fidelity magazine in November 1981, at first in collaboration with the Wanderer Forum Foundation, and became its editor and publisher in June 1984 (Culture Wars). The title Culture Wars replaced or succeeded Fidelity in the mid-1990s; accounts of the transition differ (Wikipedia). Fidelity Press also publishes Jones's books, including The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit (2008) (Internet Archive catalogue).

Characterisations by watchdogs and Church authorities. The Southern Poverty Law Center lists Culture Wars/Fidelity Press among the groups it designates as radical traditionalist Catholic hate groups (SPLC). The SPLC says the magazine's early work embraced the idea of a Jewish "revolutionary spirit" undermining American culture and Catholic teaching (SPLC). The Anti-Defamation League describes Jones as an antisemitic traditionalist writer (ADL). The leaked 2023 FBI Richmond memo, later withdrawn by the FBI, listed Culture Wars/Fidelity Press in a footnote of groups drawn from the SPLC's list (Wikipedia; OSV News; timeline). In February 2020 the local bishop, Kevin Rhoades of Fort Wayne–South Bend, issued a statement that press coverage read as an indirect rebuke of Jones (Israel Hayom). According to the SPLC, Jones rejects the label "antisemitic" and calls himself "anti-Jewish" (SPLC).

Platforms. In 2020 Jones said YouTube had suspended him. Culture Wars said he had removed older videos himself as a precaution and moved the archive to BitChute (Culture Wars; X). The magazine continues to publish online. See Judaism and antisemitism.
