About Angelus Press
Angelus Press is the publishing apostolate of the Society of Saint Pius X in the United States. The SSPX's U.S. newsletter, the Regina Coeli Report, describes it as founded in 1978 in Dickinson, Texas, as an apostolate of the Society to provide traditional Catholic literature (Regina Coeli Report, Oct. 2022); Wikipedia credits Fr. Carl Pulvermacher with founding its magazine there (Wikipedia). It later moved to Kansas City, Missouri — in 1990 according to Wikipedia, in 1992 according to the Society's U.S. timeline (SSPX.org) — and on 13 May 2022 opened a new Angelus Press Building in St. Marys, Kansas, which the 2024 masthead of its magazine gives as its publication address (Regina Coeli Report; The Angelus).
Output. It describes itself as producing books, magazines and online content on doctrine, history, liturgy, spirituality and theology, and has added podcasts and online articles to its print output. The 2022 Regina Coeli Report named Fr. Paul Robinson as its publisher. Its flagship periodical, The Angelus, is described by Wikipedia as the official English-language magazine of the SSPX; the November–December 2024 issue says it is published bi-monthly. Its catalogue includes Marcel Lefebvre: The Biography by Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, a life of the Society's founder Marcel Lefebvre (Angelus Press).
Criticism. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a critic of the Society, has written that it is in The Angelus and on the SSPX's website that "the radical anti-Semitism of the order is most evident today" (SPLC). See also Judaism and antisemitism.
Status. Active. As an official apostolate of the SSPX, its publications reflect the Society's positions; for the Society's canonical situation since July 2026 see SSPX consecrations of 2026.
