About Christopher A. Ferrara

Christopher A. Ferrara is an American lawyer and writer. He founded the American Catholic Lawyers Association in 1990 and serves as its president and chief counsel, focusing on First Amendment and civil-rights cases (American Catholic Lawyers Association). Since 2020 he has also been senior counsel at the Thomas More Society, which says he has been lead counsel in numerous reported decisions involving pro-life advocates (Thomas More Society). Wikipedia notes that he studied at Fordham University and its law school (Wikipedia).

His books set out a traditionalist critique of the post-conciliar Church and of political liberalism. The Great Façade (2002), written with Thomas E. Woods Jr. and subtitled in its 2015 second edition The Regime of Novelty in the Catholic Church from Vatican II to the Francis Revolution, added chapters on the pontificates of Benedict XVI and Francis (Angelico Press). Liberty, the God That Failed (2012) treats secular liberalism as an ideology that conceals its coercive origins (Angelico Press). He has also written The Church and the Libertarian and books on Fatima, including False Friends of Fatima (Goodreads). According to Wikipedia, the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Report criticised The Great Façade as part of what it called a radical traditionalist movement, and Ferrara signed the 2017 Correctio filialis addressed to Pope Francis.

He is a regular columnist for The Remnant and writes the "Fatima Perspectives" commentary for The Fatima Center (The Fatima Center). He has defended the Center's founder, Fr. Nicholas Gruner, arguing that Gruner was never validly suspended, a position that conflicts with Church-side accounts that Gruner's suspension was upheld by the Holy See in 2001 (The Fatima Center; Catholic World News). In May 2025 he endorsed a petition asking Leo XIV to consecrate Russia specifically and described the 2022 consecration performed by Pope Francis as insufficient, LifeSiteNews reported (LifeSiteNews).

An essay in Catholic Answers Magazine criticised him and Michael J. Matt for misrepresenting the positions of those they argue against (Catholic Answers). See papal-critique and resistance media and apparitions and prophecy culture.
