About Messa in Latino (MiL)
Messa in Latino (MiL) is an Italian Catholic blog focused on the traditional Latin Mass and on news about the Church and the Vatican. According to The European Conservative, it has been online since 2007, has published some 22,000 articles, and has been among the first to report on stories including the case of Fr. Marko Rupnik, reports of possible changes to conclave rules, Traditionis custodes, and a public billboard campaign in defence of the traditional Mass (The European Conservative). Its director is Luigi Casalini (same source).
2025 removal. On 11 July 2025, Google's Blogger platform took the blog offline with immediate effect, citing an unspecified violation of its hate-speech policy (Catholic World News; The European Conservative). The removal came a day after MiL published an interview with Fr. Nicola Bux about the 2020 Vatican survey of bishops on Summorum Pontificum, whose responses had recently been reported by journalist Diane Montagna; Google gave no reason linking the two. Casalini said he would take legal action, Italian MP Maddalena Morgante sought a parliamentary inquiry, and MEP Paolo Inselvini raised the case with the European Commission under the Digital Services Act (The European Conservative). The blog returned on 23 July 2025, again without an explanation from Google (LifeSiteNews; FSSPX.News).
Status. MiL remained active in 2026; in July 2026 it published a conversation with the Latin Mass Society on the ancient rite, schism and Traditionis custodes (Messa in Latino). Most English-language coverage of the 2025 episode came from conservative or traditionalist outlets.
